We currently have vacancies for Parent Councillors on our Ivy House School Academy Council. The role is a chance for you as a parent to have an influence over the education the school provides for all its children.

Councillors make decisions about many aspects of the school including the curriculum and staffing. Their role is vital to the education of the children so we would urge you to consider standing. There is also a vital role for Parent

Councillors in providing a link between the school and parents. In case you feel a bit daunted by the responsibilities, we will offer training to help you understand your role as a councillor. The Parent Councillor will be expected to attend six meetings of the school Academy Council each year.

All meetings take place on Mondays between 1.00pm-3.30pm.

All people who have parental responsibility for a child at the school are eligible to stand for election as a Parent Councillor. However, there are certain restrictions which prevent a person from standing, please see the nomination form for more information.

If you wish to apply for the role you may nominate yourself, no proposer or seconder is required.

Please complete the nomination form, providing a short personal statement with your nomination, setting out the following:

• Evidence of your skills and experience;

• Your commitment to undertake training to acquire or develop the skills to be an effective councillor;

• How you plan to contribute to the future work of the Academy
